Hi Joel and forum admins,

I was wondering if anyone has considered doing an adsense case study. You know, one of those start to finish type thread following the implementation and progress of an adsense site. I've seen this done several times on topics like, affiliate marketing and SEO.

Just thought I'd drop my idea in the bucket :)

I was just thinking about something like this last night. The only real danger is that, in drawing a lot of attention to a specific site like that, the Adsense account could be a target of click fraud.

So, I think it would have to be done as a blind study, just to be safe. I know that I personally wouldn't risk my account for something like that. Or, if we had access to an independent account, it could be done more publicly. Actually, it might be best to approach it that way...if some disinterested party were willing to open an Adsense account just for the purpose of that site. Then, it could be done publicly.

But I like the idea. And I think a number of us could find ways to contribute to keep the cost to nearly nothing. Finally...it could eventually be sold off (after the study was completed) and we could use the proceeds to have a pizza party at affiliatechick's house. :D

Right after I posted the idea, I was thinking about click fraud as well.

The blind study option sounds good. Now, even if we were to find a disinterested party for a more public study, I think there would still be a problem with the actual results. There's always going to be some "Wack Job" who will skew the CT's. KWIM??

Hmmm...pizza party, eh?? I'm game. ***Note to self - Must find some pizza coupons before the gang gets here.***

Good point. Blind is going to be somewhat less interesting...but probably the only way to do it right. And the LAST thing we need is getting the site banned for Adsense...which would ruin the study...kill off the resale value...and put a real damper on the pizza party. :(

Note to Self: Find out what KWIM stands for...

Well, I have a site that's ready to go. So far, I haven't really been up to speed on adsense, which is why I'm here. But I do have a template that's designed for adsense and basically ready to be uploaded to the server.

I haven't purchased Joel's ebook yet but will very soon. I'm thinking that these are the appropriate steps to take.

1. Design (Done but may need to be tweaked a bit)
2. Keyword Optimize (Meta tags & Content)
3. Link exchanges
4. SE Submission
5. Optimal placement for Adsense
6. Use of Adsense Channels to monitor CT (domain or each subpage as well??)

My concern is that I'll be sandboxed for a bit as this is a new domain.

Anyone think of anything else?
