Which works better for SEO & SER?

As a full hyperlink like http://www.hypertony.co.uk

OR

Under a text link like Hypertony (http://www.hypertony.co.uk)

I did some test searching and got confusing result but I want to see what you say first.

I would have thought that if you want to use a text link then, from an SEO point of view, you should be using one of your target keywords as the anchor text.

So, if you are anticipating a lot of searches on "Hypertony", then that should be a reasonable text link.

If you want to target something like "PC Games" as a search term then that might be better anchor text to use (albeit probably a lot more competitive).

There's a link in my sig file where you can get a free copy of Brad Callen's SEO made easy. He goes into a lot more detail regarding links, anchor text etc. There are some aff links therein but the book is well worth a gander even if you don't want to buy his software.
