I got an email from them inviting me to join them.

They were interested in advertising on my site, but would not let me know what ad would be published until I signed up.

I signed up to see the ad and then decide if I was going to do it or not, I felt that the ad they wanted to display was not targetted enough and probably would not have converted very well, so I decided not to go through with it.

Your situation might be different, but I felt I the space on my site would be better spent with adsense (I don't want to bombard my site's visitors with ads, therefore adding Expoactive would have meant removing at least one adsense block).
