Hi,

I am a newbie here. I wonder if it is really necessary to submit to google search engine after you have done your site.

Logically, if you have your website up and running, and since googlebot will come and look for you. Why do i need to submit to google search engine?

If no other site in the whole world links to your site, how would you expect the Google bot to find your site. By just guessing it might exist? No. If you need to have the Google bot find your site for the first time, it needs a way to find it, and so you could submit your site (once!) or start approaching other sites already indexed by Google to link to you.

It is not a mistake to submit your site to Google.

What would be a mistake is to submit it over and over again. That's called search engine spamming, and Google does not like it.

I recommend you create and submit a Sitemap for your site too, will help Google tremendously to index all pages and images from your site.

Why does bass say it is a mistake... since it is not a mistake
Bass's post said that u will fall inside a sand, it seems like if you submit, you will be in a quicksand of google , unable to get out.

As rightly said above, if you don't have any links to your site from any sites that are indexed by google, how are they going to find you?
Of course if you do have backlinks, getting indexed shouldn't mean having to submit it as they will find you automatically.

Alright, so if it is a brand new "fresh out of the oven" site. You need to submit. Ok got it. Bu ti feel that if the site is able to get some in bound link from google indexed site. It will be better.

Maybe doing both should be better.
