My best performing format

is 2 large rectangles side by side right below the masthead of the site. I consistiently average 42+% in this format.

It is great for revenue because people see so many choices right away when they come by the site and they aren't "distracted" by the content yet.

Of course, if you require more interaction on your site, this is perhaps not the best format to use as folks often don't get into the meat of the page that they are visiting.

Clickthrough rate is so high because many people click on multiple ads when presented in this format.

If you blended the ads into the page more by removing the borders you'll increase your click rate quite a bit.

Have a close read of Joels book on this area and check out other successful site examples.

A few tweeks can reap huge dividends.

Take a look at your site in Firefox if you have not already. Some of the material sits on top of other material. Some style problems I suspect.

As an aside...you all might want to be a little "closer to the vest" about sharing clickthrough rates. There's a clause in the Terms and Conditions, under Confidentiality:
You agree not to disclose Google Confidential Information without Google's prior written consent. "Google Confidential Information" includes without limitation: <snip> (b) click-through rates or other statistics relating to Site performance in the Program provided to You by Google;
It wouldn't be very fun to put in all this time working on making AdSense clickthroughs better then get banned from the program! :)
