I think these picture placements might actually be a breach of Adsense TOS - as they draw too much unde attention to the ads. Normally Google prefers if you have a border of somesort between the ad and the pictrure. That said I don't think Google is extremely strict on it, and a lot of people get away with it.

I've seen copies of e-mails from Google saying pics near AdSense were OK as long as it was clear that they weren't part of the AdSense and they didn't have images like arrows pointing to the AdSense.
Google did say that you should try to keep your pics in a different color/background than the AdSense. I think that site manages to do that. Barely, in the case of the bottom images, though.
Then again, a different Google support person may have a different interpretation and they might be OK with it or they might not.
I did think that the targeting of the ads was lousy, though. There were ads for schools, airline flights, T1 lines, ZIP code databases, and executive office services when I looked. I don't know if they're trying to target a particular keyword or if they're just hoping that someone looking for NYC ZIP codes will be interested in one of the random ads.

thats how i hit the page... looking for "nyc zip codes".... through google, and most the ads where target.
Thought it was also werid that the side links where for stamps, and the pictures resembled stamps... maybe they are using google targeting...
but I almost clicked the ad at the bottom near the picture of zip codes in the map...
i think as long as your adsense recieves a click, and the advertisers gets someone looking for what they have.... everyone is happy...
actually I just got the dsl ads this time....

Google doesn't have the resources to manually check every single site but I'm sure if someone brought the issue up by sending an email to Google that site owner would be receiving an email asking them to change their setup, it's probably not a bannable offense if it is their first time but I'd think they'd get a warning.

Joel even gives mention of this in his ebook, remember?
I have run images on several of my sites for about a year and have never had a problem. About the site layout, very good job. Although I think they would have done better with a white border, you can kind of see the light blue of the adsense border.
Anyone else wanna speak up about images and google adsense?

Neat integration but couldn't they have chosen a better site name, doesn't roll off the tongue easily does it...
