Hello - first time post here. Been researching adsense sites for ideas on my next site, and I came across the site below. I'm somewhat new to the adsense game, but the integration is incedibly here. I'm just not sure if it is Google Legal.
Tell me what you think!

I don't see any Adsense ads on that site.
(check out these for ideas on how to use Adsense on sites as well as Blogs!)

The only page I see adsense on is the news page and the integration in the right border is fine. Three single ad units are allowed per page. The rest of what I see appear to be something other than adsense. If they were adsense ads though, they would be illegal because you would have to tamper with the adsense code to get them to display like that and the TOS definately prohibits that :)

Look at the links under "resources" on the right. Right click and view properties of the links - you will see that they are adsense ads.

So is that OK?
thanks for the replys!

No. Unless this was some type of experimental ad and I happen to know this person is not likely doing an experiment with Google, the code appears to have been stealthed. You can't get rid of the "Ads by Google" statement at the top that I'm aware of. You can get rid of the "Advertise on this site" at the bottom in your control panel. I also believe you can't get rid of the hyperlink at the base of each ad. It would appear that some cloaking java script might be being used.
If I'm wrong about this I hope someone else would chime in on this post and set me straight. I wouldn't risk it unless someone comes forward and tells me I'm wrong. When I did a view source on the page, it appears that the code is intact but some how it's being altered in the way it's shows up on the page.

Could they be a premium adsense publisher?
Because those ads blended in VERY well.

Closer inspection reveals that those nifty little ads are Google Adsense and they look quite kosher...
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX";
google_ad_width = 234;
google_ad_height = 48;
google_ad_format = "234x60_as";
google_ad_channel ="9011349926";
google_ad_type = "text";
google_color_border = "FFFFFF";
google_color_bg = "FFFFFF";
google_color_link = "FF9933";
google_color_url = "0000FF";
google_color_text = "000000";
//--></script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>
The only thing I think that would be wrong with it is having the RESOURCES header above it.

I agree with what you noted and that's what I saw when I checked the source code too but it still doesn't explain why the lack of some typical Adsense flags, like the header? I don't know, and I agree regarding the use of the resources tag above the script as bordering on the "click me" syndrome...

It's pretty ingenius if you ask me, BUT, highly illegal according to Google's user agreement.
This person is using those spacer bars to cover over the "ads by google" text and the url is in color #0000ff which is very very faint color. You'll notice this by reading the google_color_url = "0000FF"; text in the code.
Here is the code I am referring to:
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx";
google_ad_width = 234;
google_ad_height = 48;
google_ad_format = "234x60_as";
google_ad_channel ="9011349926";
google_ad_type = "text";
google_color_border = "FFFFFF";
google_color_bg = "FFFFFF";
google_color_link = "FF9933";
google_color_url = "0000FF";
google_color_text = "000000";
//--></script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
<table width="277" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<tr>
<td width="277"><IMG height=17 alt="" src="whd-images/index_24.gif" width=277></td>
</tr>
</table>
<table width="262" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<tr>
<td width="67" background="whd-images/index_21.gif"> </td>
<td class="t10_b">
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx";
google_ad_width = 234;
google_ad_height = 48;
google_ad_format = "234x60_as";

The code in bold above is the "table" that is covering over the bottom part of each ad.
Being pretty good at building sites, specially with the use of tables I found this quite easily. They are using the grey/white space between each ad to cover over the "ads by google" text. If you'll mouse over the ads when you get down to the grey/white bar you'll get a clickable link which takes you straight to "google" asking you to sign up for Adsense, like it normally does.
I definitely would NOT follow in this person's footsteps..for fear of Google banning me!
Hope this helps

Great catch Tonya! I knew there was something bothering me about the coding but couldn't quite put my finger on it.
I would also agree and say this is in direct violation of the TOS. I don't think I would follow that example either :eek:
It falls into two different category's of violation actually, hiding it, as well as cloaking it by using colors not clearly visible as they mention with keywords on a page etc. also.

They seem to have corrected their code now. Or at least I can see all of the ads on each of the three ads posted.

This way of implimentation of google ad is aganist the Google policy. Because according to google policy we are not supposed to hide any parted of the Ad. If you see the ad of rhs of that page by selecting and drag it , so u can see the hidden part of the ads (Ads by Google) below which is hidden. Google will catch them up.
We can get ride of Ads by google. we can format google according to our website only by activating java ads given by Google . for that u should reach a target in google. Once you reach the target google will sent you a mail and activate your java ads format, and u can give the java codes to. If u get it activated then Its really cool. and great to work with that java ads. :)
Thats very easy but noot good
He has edited google code
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-xxxxxxxxxx";
google_ad_width = 234;
google_ad_height = 48;
google_ad_format = "234x60_as";

//--></script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>
Default is google_ad_height = 60;
Thats all :D

I'm sure this site is in another league from the majority of us and are testing for Google. If they are not, yes it would be in violation. This the code they are using and it is seriously altered and in a different form the norm. because of all the "ad test" comments, it's my guess they are beta testing for Google or something though because the code is quite advanced and different in choices from what the rest of us are using.
<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
// This script sets the attributes for requesting ads.
google_ad_client = "ca-dummies_js";
google_ad_output = "js";
google_max_num_ads = 3;
google_safe = "high";
//google_feedback = "on";
google_ad_type = "text";
google_hints = "internet,graphics,photoshop,web site,ebay";
google_color_line = "#ffff00";
google_adtest = "off";
google_ad_channel = "categories"; // categories, articles, etips
// Note: The following line is for testing purposes only.
// Remove this line to have ads targeted correctly for your pages.
// google_page_url = 'http://www.dummies.com';
// Note: The following lines are for testing purposes only.
// Uncomment them to test image ads.
// google_kw = "googletestadimage";
// google_kw_type = "exact";
// google_image_size = "120x600";
-->
</script>
My guess anyway :)

My guess is a Premium Adsense account.
I imagine dummies.com gets more traffic in a week than I do in a year.
