Just saw the following http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/002396.html discussing Yahoo's entry into a competing Adsense program. Called YPN

Will be nice to have an option for us publishers to not have a big percentage of our revenue coming from one source.

Joel, Should we start a new forum to discuss YPN?

I signed up for the program but never heard back from them. I imagine that is the case with a lot of folks...

Not sure of the URL, but I do know that it is currently a limited "beta" type of implementation, so I would imagine that you need to have fairly high traffic right now to get in. I could be wrong though...

I heard that they will be releasing it to the general public by the end of the year (if all goes well).

This morning I got my invite to the program. I'm a bit torn though. August has been the absolute best month ever for me at Adsense. If I switch and it fails, I'm looking at losing a lot of money. I guess I'll give it 7 days at least and see how it goes.

I don't understand why would you switch to YPN?
You don't want to kill a winning horse!
Aaaaah, what would I give for some decent Adsense campaign... :o

I can't sign up because I'm not US resident. Wish someone had some info on the success of this program because once it's up Google will have to loosen the purse strings on their CTR.

You don't have to switch all your pages to it.

You will be better off sticking with ONE program. Yahoo contacted me before implementation of the YPN program and I had to refuse!

Google is the largest search engine by far, therefore bringing more visitors to your site that will feel comfortable clicking on a Google ad.

~ methinks!

You do need an invite once you have signed up for the beta test. I just got my invite last week.

I was accepted into Yahoo's publisher network a week ago.

The ads look identical to Google's, except it says "Ads by Yahoo!" formatted to the right.

I haven't done much with it so far, so I don't know about the payouts, but I like the way they look more than google bcause the "Ads by Yahoo" text is much less distracting. A lot of people won't even see it.

I read on the Jason Calacanis ($1 million/yr Adsense man) weblog that "Google Adsense torpedoes yahoo Publisher Network with a 15% better split?!?"

Does anyone think this is true?

Do you think Google will temporarily or permanetly increase commissions in order to compete with YPN? This will good for us publishers!

Now that google no longer has an monopoly, it can only get better for us
as now we can jump to yahoo and leave google if thier not treating us right or paying us enough..
Competition can only make it better..
as its doing to search , as yahoo and msn are trying very hard to take done google in that.

Fair competition is always healthy for everyone (except the monopoly) and so I encourage it.

I hope that Google, Yahoo and Microsoft come together to share information about click fraud to prevent banned members from jumping from one to the other.

Click fraud is not good for any of us - well it might be good for the fraudsters but harms those of us doing it the right way.

More the competition, better it is for us.

The way things are going with Search Engines,i.e, Yahoo, MSN & Google (with their search results); sure looks like MSN too will get in this game soon with better payouts.

Wars between them is a park walk for us. :D

After having serious problems with Yahoo/Overture  I won't even think
about using anything but Google..

Funny thing is I haven't got a invite...Don't know if I should be upset or
smiling...
Maybe after having to give me my money back cause of their
worker issues I don't think they want me playing with thier ads too... Gee :p

LOL Don't jump ship for Yahoo sorry but no you won't see me there..

Hi Uzoom,

it sure looks like it.

Check this "Participants of the program must have a valid U.S. Social Security or Tax ID number, and web site content that is predominantly in English and targeted at a U.S. user base."

Weird but true. I guess we will have to wait a little bit more longer.

Sure, I'll try it once it opens up. Is there a target date for that? I hope it's a better experience than being an Overture advertiser.

I'm sure they'll open it to people outside the US eventually.

Eventually they will. Hopefully the program comes out of beta within the next 1-2 months. :)

These companies are always very cagey about when they will release new products as invariably there are glitches. These cause major embaressment if they then cause a product to be launched later than they previously announced.

Was great to see that Gmail has at last been launched to everyone without the need for invites

I got invited to try Yahoo's YPN about two months ago. I guess I was one of the lucky ones, located in the US, with sufficient US traffic. Anyway, while I’m still in the initial phases of testing it out, I did discover that my share of the CPC is way higher then that of google. In other words I'm earning WAY more per visitor click with YPN then Adsense (Not just a measly 1 or 2 cents ether  ). Well we’ll see what happens.

I've signed up twice, I got denied the first time and they told me that they are still in Beta and that they werent accepting anyone... ha.... and then I signed up the second time and they didn't respond - [I signed up few months afterward...]

So I don't know!
