I thinking of setting up a site that deals with 3M products. I would be using 3M in my keywords, have pages that are set up to focus on keyword phrases that contain 3M. I am not selling any 3M competitor products. Will there be a problem with google adsense. Has any body do something simaliar but with other major trade names.

One thing to definitely avoid is putting a trademark in your domain name. Some companies monitor domain name registrations & go after people who use their trademarks in a name, even if they don't build a site.

As a keyword or file name you're probably OK. Worst case is getting a lawyer's letter demanding you remove the site, which won't cost you any money if you comply.

3M might not like that. After google lost their Adwords TM infringement case,
they'll know better.

I know what I said above is about Adwords and not adsense. But google will
still have to exercise better care.

You are asking about serving AdSense on those particular pages that are about 3M products, correct. IMO, as long as your pages comply with the AdSense TOS, then Google will work out which ads to serve to your site. With the number of PhDs on board, and the numerous Web pages out there talking about various branded products, I can't imagine they aren't handling it however they see fit.

I also think you should check with your agreement with 3M to see if it's OK to serve ads - some of them may be for competitubg products - on your pages.

The final word on legality should be left to lawyers, of course. I am not one, this all just my opinion. :)

Which case? They WON the GEICO case.
