I don’t know what gives me a bigger smile: the
fat checks I get from Google every month; or the
letters I get from my readers telling me about
the fat checks they now get from Google every
month.
Both of those are fantastic. And the best thing
about them is that there’s no contradiction.
In most businesses, when someone starts teaching
other people how to do something that they
already do successfully, they’re just creating
competition. Jeff Bezos, for example, did a
pretty good job building Amazon.com but I don’t
see him at conferences telling other
entrepreneurs how to create online stores.
That’s one of the great things about AdSense...
We can all help each other and share the success
without putting our own businesses at any risk at
all.
We can do that by taking part in AdSense forums,
giving advice and spreading news. We can do it by
letting other people know about strategies that
we’ve found to be highly effective or about new
software programs that help us manage our sites
or track our users.
And we can do it by simply creating well
optimized sites that can not only bring good
revenues but can act as models for others to
copy.
Those are all the best ways to help yourself too.
New ideas about AdSense are being churned up all
the time. Keyword values change constantly, new
ad systems are being released and new ways of
using the old ones are always under discussion.
Sharing the knowledge that you pick up as you
optimize your ads doesn’t cost you a penny. But
it does increase the pennies that everyone else
earns. And you might be happy with the sort of
revenues your site is generating but if you’re
not paying attention to the forums, reading the
posts and looking critically at other AdSense
sites, you could also be missing out on some
vital tip that could dramatically increase your
CTR or bring your site better ads.
Being an active member of the AdSense publishers’
community brings yourself higher revenues and
increases the income for everyone. It’s something
that every one of us should be doing.
