View Full Version : Content is Ka-Ching!

Content is not just King.
Content is KA-Ching!
While thousands of black-hat and grey-hat sites are falling off the Google radar, those who continue to create content-rich sites prosper more than ever.
Why?
Because the AdSense program is working the way it was intially intended to work.
That is, site publishers would add valuable content to the web and be able to monetize their hard work by placing AdSense contextual advertisements on their pages.
AdSense isn't rocket science. If it were, I'd be in big trouble!
It's simple, but not always easy.
Remember that AdSense is NOT a "get rich quick" scheme.
It is a business model.
And like any business, it can take time to build a revenue stream that you can be proud of.
But I can tell you this.
It's worth it.
Concentrate of creating content-rich sites and providing the best experience for your visitor. Not only will you build a loyal user base that will be eager to visit your site again and again, but you will find AdSense to be just one way of monetizing your traffic.
It all comes down to content.
Treat your site like a shrewd investor would treat his mutual funds. You invest today for a sizeable return on investment later on. But unlike a mutual fund, you don't have to wait years to reap the benefits! AdSense can begin paying dividends on Day One, if you do the right things.
Content, content, content.
Write it yourself. Outsource it. Get volunteers to create it.
But one way or another, always add fresh new content.
It is the KEY to making money with AdSense.
I do agree that content is king. It's what the net is intended to be. You should be able to go online and find what you're looking for or how to do something without wadeing through a bunch of garbage put out by folks that don't know what they're talking about.
The best sites out there are the ones that give it all away for free. However, advertisers know that the folks that are looking for free information on free information sites are unlikely to actually buy anything. And so they're not willing to give a good bid for these sites.
Now, I don't blame them at all. I personally wouldn't pay a high price for ads that were unlikely to produce either. So that's the flaw about what keeps being said about "Google" contextual ads being an income producer on great free content sites. They're not paying anything to those of us that are making the web a better place by complying to the rules that they themselves have set.
I make a great living online on one site through contextual ads. But they're not from google. I had to leave google because they cut my pay per click to almost 1/5 of what I originally was getting from them.
On the other hand, if I go to adwords as an advertiser, they want to charge me at least 20 times what I get as a publisher to create an ad for the same keywords. That is messed up.
Google is a business. A very very smart business. They have investors that are in this to make a buck.
Yes, content is king. However, adsense is not a good business model anymore for those of us that are actually providing great free content to the web. I have to agree with one thing that Boulch said is that we're allowing advertisers to steal our visitors for pennies. The visitors that we're working our butts off to get.
Look into other options to make money with your sites. They're plenty of them out there. And then when Google doesn't have any more publishers left to feed their advertisers, they'll get things back in order.

I'd venture to argue with the "Content is King" portion, only because I know Google prefers Unique Content over regurgitated content.
Just to modify your statement a bit, I'd say "Unique Content is King".
Articles or information that is repeated on many websites degrades how Google ranks your site. Try attaining unique content, as Joel said, pay someone to generate it -- but at the very least make it unique.

WoW ... 3 great posts that almost say it all and I loved the headline :D
Content is not just King. ... Content is KA-Ching!
I agree with all these posts ... one thing that I also see very often online
is how the web moves on so quickly, as in? just as any normal person gets to
grips with the latest n greatest money making venture 3-things always blocks
their way and usually its greed then greed and greed again Goggle’s adsense
adword idea is an excellent model for an extra residual income generator for
serious marketers and genuine publishers who just want to share there skills
and passion for specialist information we are all aware of that ….
But think about it!! Why and How did these 2 google pioneers get started with
the google phenomenon in the first place... most know it was to save their
like-minded fellow University students from trawling through the same areas of
countless information subject finding that they had to spend countless hours doing.
Sooooo can you imagine how excited these two entrepreneurs’ must have been
when the concept of an income could be inserted into there original ideas included
In the goggles model for likeminded information gatherers and seekers so its no
Surprise to me if you mess with there concept you will be financially punished
And then again if you enhance there concept you will get rewarded … to me
and most its that black and white … all I see coming in the near future is a TV
like information model …. Just think about youtube.com and think?
…. $$Price Ticket$$

A picture saves and can say a thousand words
Get your cams out fellow members put your pens away … lol

I agree completely. The same old retreaded articles just don't do it for me. I've run into it many times when searching for reviews on a particular piece of hardware. Pretty soon they all start looking the same. Because for the most part, they are!
I voted "weekly" in the poll, mainly because I have a life outside my website :) It usually is a few times per week, but it depends upon how ambitious I am or if I have any new items to post.
Hi All,
I have several sites and have spent some time looking at how much I'm making from each page on my site.
At present, it looks as if outsourcing content could really pay off in the long term. Not only will it keep the search engines coming back to check out my sites, but it will pay off long term.
For example, one article on Elance is costing around $10 at present. If I aim to make around 50 cents - $1/day from each article once they've been found by the search engines, it shouldn't take me too long (3-6 months) to recoup my expenditure and then it's all profit.
I use Dr. Andy's suggestions for choosing keywords and creating pages that are "themed" or "lsi" as some of you may have read. If you haven't signed up to his Newsletter, check out http://ezseonews.com/, it's the best Newsletter I've come across and Andy only rarely offers any promotions.
All the best,
Jen

Content Is NOT King!
Quality Content Is King!
Quality content will benefit the user, if they feel that your content is good, they'll bookmark your site, share the bookmark with their friends, visit your site often, click on your adsense, join your newsletter, buy your affiliate offers or your own product, etc.

I am in a very fortunate position of having at least 1000 pages all about living in France that a friend of mine, Lin Davidson, has written. My main task now is getting it all into a site called Our Life in France (http://www.ourlifeinfrance.com), with great keyphrases.
I use Wordtracker to find niche keyphrases that generate huge traffic. (my most famous one is Remove DRM from WMV (http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B2GGGL_enFR176&q=remove+drm+from+wmv) where I have been in the top 10 for nearly 2 years.)
I have made a video about using Wordtracker to find niche keyphrases that you can watch for FREE here.
