Okay let me start. I use Adwords only. I guess you can tell how much I make by looking at my username. and I think you can also tell my reason for posting this thread.

do you make five digits after paying your adwords bill :)
I've used adwords to get traffic and my adwords bill is always higher than my adsense income.

I think the question I would have would be how to go about using AdWords to drive AdSense clicks. I just can't imagine that Google would pay out more for an AdSense click than they make from AdWords.

bid minimum ($.05 cents) on adwords
build a site around keywords that pay ($0.15-0.20)
but thats not the case anymore with the new adwords system.

Its actually easier than you think. You just need to plan, and create good solid content.
Pay adwords for words relating to say, babies and parenting. Doesnt cost much. Then, have a section on life insurance for new families. Direct your traffic there. If you have good content, you'll doing well.
Obviously, if the word " life insurance" pays you $5 per click, its going to cost you $10 per click or more to advertise for it. So be creative, create some good solid content, and direct your traffic accordingly.
Of course, dont push your visitors there, but guide them.

Just two weeks ago, I started experimenting
with a new tool that is nothing short of miraculous.
I'd even say that myself and just about everyone
has always wished that something as effective
would come along, but always promises fell short
of the mark, well...not this time.
Here's a short explanation, plus the tool I use.
I earned $1000 from it in 2 weeks from a mix
of Adsense and affiliate products. But the traffic
came...I did campaigns for top ranks and campaigns
designed for clickthrough, both worked.
Here's the story, or you can go straight there:

There is no quick way of getting traffic, thats what they dont tell you about in the adsense e-books. Have a look at the gurus sites, do people like Joel make scraper sites? No they dont, although they all sell or recommend you their scraper software with the promise of riches, so, you build a site hopefully setup to get people to click the adverts, then you submit to SE's and wait, trade links and wait.
If you dont have content your income will suffer, if you do have good UNIQUE content, SE's will like the site and it will start moving up, theres no quick way of doing it that will last for the future, the engines are getting smart so dont waste time or money on the latest downloadable miracle, just build content rich sites in your area of knowledge and wait, a week, month or few months if your site is worth looking at it will get listed and will get traffic.

is to offer value and acquire inbound links (either paid or reciprocal...hopefully relevant reciprocal).
While I believe that Google is at least partially broken right now (there's no other way to explain some of the rankings I see), they and the others bigs still do a fine job of finding content and sending traffic.
The more valuable content you can present on your site (the short definition of content is "what people want"...not necessarily information articles), the more likely that you'll get word-of-mouth buzz. I love it when I find people talking about my sites in forums, linking to them from their blogs and sites, and emailing their friends about them. THEN, I know I'm doing my job.
Not that it's incumbent upon you to do so (and this isn't directed toward anyone in particular)...but you're going to have a hard time convincing me that you or anyone else will be passionate about a site that adds no new value to the web. How many sites do we need to sell MP3 players, or Viagra, or MP3 downloads? There are plenty already...and the big ones are probably doing it better than you could with bigger budgets and a huge head start.
So...build a site ABOUT something. Something that scratches people's itch. Something with a fresh perspective. Then, you might be amazed how, with a little ground work to get things started at the beginning, at least SOME of these questions will answer themselves.
