Hi-

I'm new to Adsense everything including Adsense Chat. I just signed up for Adsense Detective and when I put the code in place all of my Adsense ads change from site specific ads to Community Service ads and things like credit report and government grants ads. I took the Adsense Detective code out and the site specific ads came back. Has anyone else had this happen? Does anyone have any suggestions?

(I contacted the AD folks and they were very nice but said they hadn't heard of a problem like this before)

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I don't use it, to be honest as long as adsense makes me money (i use channels to see what does well or not) I don't really care which add block they've clicked on. click=cash, what click=whatever. Might be me but I just like to keep stuff simple.
That said your experience frightens the hell out of me. If Joels listening then I think this post needs addressing asap - very damaging if not.

Thanks for your input Golden14!

I haven't reinstalled the code-I'm still trying to figure things out. In rereading Joel's 'Making Money With Adsense' book I did read that public service ads might be an indication that the keywords need to be changed. I'll be addressing that this weekend but I still don't understand why this happens when I try to implement the Adsense Detective code. When I take it out I get my site specific ads back.

Again, thanks for your thoughts! :o)

There is no logical reason for this to happen. AdSense Detective doesn't affect the html on the page. It is merely a javascript that tracks the ads and clicks. I've never seen this happening before with anyone else, so I'm going to assume it was a freak happenstance. I've got it on my blog and my ads are very targeted.
