I have a site that for one reason or another is in the sandbox.

Do any of you have any good experiences with getting your site out?

I've heard that writing a content specific article and submitting it to a bunch of free article sites works (with a link back) but I'm not sure!

Here's the site in question:

Thanks for the suggestions!

I see that AS ads are showing on your site.

What is 'Google sandbox' anyway?

since the Austin update it seems that ALL new sites no matter what ibl's they have they go into the sandbox, some say since the bourbon update the sandbox has disappeared!!

I launched 2 sites in march they are still in the box, I have also recently launched another 3 sites, all in the sandbox.

It can take up to 12 months before the new site is allowed to play in the serps with the others, reason - spam sites would be up and running in days, abusing Gs back link system to shoot to the top of serps and make enough traffic before they get found out and banned so G decided to put in place some sort of cooling off area, known as the "sandbox", G says theres no sandbox, well whatever there is, filter, time delay etc is it does affect new sites.

Use it to your benefit, get backlinks so that when it does come out it comes out well, how long? 3 months 6 months 12 months, and for adsensites "time is money" so the wait is painfull.

ah...interesting. thanks for the info AWTY.
that's something that i've long suspected.

well...i'm still working on content and hopefully it will pay off in the end as this is the tactic that i'm sticking with for the long term.

Why are some sites in it and others not even if they have been put online in the same day?

The ONLY way to get out of the "sandbox" is to wait.

Nothing you do will affect how long it is there, it is just a matter of time.
Some sites will only be there a short time, others can be there for months, but you can't really do anything about. Just keep building content or more sites, and business as usual.

I recently launched a site, within 2 hours I had 56 pages indexed with Yah@@
24 hrs later 556 and currently 5600 pages indexed ALL WITH ADSENSE.

G@@gle has not 1 page indexed, site crawled daily and nothing.

The point I make is we all launch sites to make money I presume we all use adsense, I have made $1000 from this site and its only indexed on Yah@@.
When it is eventually Indexed am I going to double my income with G@@gle
maybe or maybe not.

Why are some sites in it and others not even if they have been put online in the same day?

Rumour has it that the following applies to "the sandbox"

Lets say you build a site that returns 1000 results in the serps, that makes it a low topic audience site, it may never get into the sandbox, BUT will still take a month or so to produce results that you expect.

Now you make a site around a MAJOR topic that gets 1000,000 results in serps, that makes it a MAJOR topic therefore as far as G is concerned you built it for profit, so it MUST generate income/traffic for you, now G places it in a holding area (sandbox)? until it can run many further spam type tests etc before releasing it to the serps fully.

Of course all above can go out the window depending on ibl's.

Where you say...

"Click below for
More Green Tea Articles"

It appears that you are telling visitors to click the Google ads, which is against their TOS.

Not sure if this would cause any problems though.

Just curious, if you register an expired domain.. will it be still in the sandbox?

@ lunetics

Depends really, if you totally change what was originally on it it could get boxed, remember another thing about buying expired domains is they could have been blacklisted so do some research into the name first.

Hey All,

To followup on the sandbox issue, I have read in a few places now, that Google do admit it exsists.

I am also lead to belive that it works on the age, number & quality of your backlinks, not your website.

Just my thoughts....

The seemingly sandbox appears to apply to highly competitive keyword ranking.

For example: Type "THE COOLEST GUY ON THE PLANET" and you'll see a new (PR0) site gets top 10 ranking.

If you have the time and money to endure the Google Torture, it's worth to wait for your competitive keywords to appear.

If not, I'd suggest going for other search engines.

My site has been in the sandbox since May when I built it. 2 months ago I submitted an article to 20 article directories and received backlinks from some of them plus webmasters posting the article on their sites.

Point is I still am in the sandbox!

I'm number one in MSN, #28 in Yahoo, and number 570 in Google...That's just not right.

Patience my friend is the key.

Add content and get good quality links. ;)

I read this and tried it and it worked well for me. I had a new site that was no where to be found on Google. I got a page rank 5 site to link to me and my site showed up in 24 hours. I wondered if it was a fluke so i tried it with another new site and it worked there too. I use linkmetro.com and linkmarket.net to find link partners but there are lots of others out there.

I know you can go to www.checkpagerank.com to see page rank, but how did you now there was a pr0 there? Is there a way of displaying it in the searches?

i took the advice of some of you folks and it appears that my site has *finally* been indexed by google. i've got a decent page ranking too because of all the good content. there's just one thing though...how come only my welcome page is cached? holy smokes, i've worked so hard on the content i need some traffic now or my wife and i are going to loose faith. here's the initial site:
Green Tea Phd (http://www.greenteaphd.com)
we're working on a holistic/organic web cluster but the indexing is coming along so slowly, jeez, i don't know.
