Could use some constructive criticism

I haven't read Joel's book yet so I'm relatively new to the whole adsense thing. But still, I've been reading up on things. Let me know what you all think.

I opened your site and noticed straight away it's a Harry Potter Fan site, even though I don't recognize the name (I've never read anything about HP, nor have I seen any movies).

The next thing that strikes me is that the text is in gray or blue on a black background. I have perfect eye-sight, but I'm not gonna strain my eyes trying to read this. Imagine what this will look like for someone with poor vision. The contrast is all wrong. If you insist on using a blackground (I'd recommend just going to white) then at least use a more contrasting text color (i.e. white). This way the links are the only things that show up, but in the wrong way.

Finally, if you want people to click your adsense ads, I'd say move them to the very top of your right hand column. I was looking where you put them, but most people won't bother and never notice them.

Let me start by saying the design of your site is nice but it is very hard to
read.

The ads blend in very well into your page. Too Well!.

I would suggest adding a lighter background color for the Goolge ads
and moving them up to the top off the right nav bar. This will help them
get noticed and should increase your clicks.
