Been developing a new look for my site and have finally made a decision, if you have the time could you please take a look and let me know your thoughts.

I am in the process of converting the sites pages and so have some new format and old format pages so please bear this in mind.

Thank you for taking the time to review and I look forward to any comments.

Well, on this page...

http://www.onlineauctiontrader.com/products.htm

Your ads are all the way at the bottom. Eeek!

To make matters worse, your first adsense block (with the highest paying ads) is a skyscraper below the fold of the left column. They gotta go... eliminate them.

See what happens :-)

Thanks Joel,

It amazing how blind to the simple 'standard' adsense approach's (ie. above the fold) you can become on your own site!!! Have move the main blocks up to the top on that page.

When you say lose the skyscraper do you mean permanently on every page? Presumably it will be pulling the higher payers on every page..

Take a look at how I do adsense on these forums... you've got your leaderboard so set off from the content.. blind. And there is no real integration IN the forums. You could do some pretty cool stuff to increase clicks.

Take a look at http://forums.dealofday.com for more forum integration that works.

Am now looking at a mod to integrate after the first post, would be easy if it wasn't for php!!!

Thanks for all the advice and keep it coming.

One thing I'd like to say on the home page. The red of the Free Templates drew my attention to the bottom of the page, under your Google ads, making them very easy to bypass. You may want to rearrange a bit to place your ads next to the attention getters.

With all of your content in Bold, how to you emphasize important text?

Hadn't really thought of that....may need to do some rehashing again..

Just an update...my click revenue has gone up 200% just from a few simple changes. I have yet to implement the forum changes but thanks for some great advice.

Finally got a homepage format I am happy with...have also adressed the bold issue (on homepage at least!) and also dropped the adsense ads inline in the forum posts. Seeing some great results thanks for all the feedback.

Now I have just got to upddate the whole site to new header and take away all the bold from the pages!!!!

Thanks again,

Mike

Hey Mike,
Just one more suggestion, if you go to a page like this one,
http://www.onlineauctiontrader.com/articles/avoiding_ebay_scams.html

you see that only 1 unit is howing the ad instead of all three. You may want to setup an alternate url for your adsense units.

All three are showing up for me?

I am seeting of on updating all the pages this week and will be fine tuning pages/ads ect and adding alternates is on the list. Thanks for the input though it is much appreciated.

Mike
