Hey Gang!
Last week I announced my free new application, AdSense Buddy.
Many of you downloaded the Buddy... for some it worked great and for others not at all. I'd like to get an idea of what percentage are having tech difficulties. Please take a moment to answer this poll.
If you haven't downloaded AdSense Buddy yet, give it a try!

AdSense Buddy v1.0 for Windows operating systems allows you to keep track of your AdSense stats conveniently. You simply roll your mouse over an incon on your taskbar to get today's stats. Login to the application and pull stats for any date with the click of a mouse. Use the built-in AdSense Journal to keep track of changes you make to your AdSense. It's easy to use. And best of all, it's FREE!
Download your copy now and let me know what you think!

Note: AdSense Buddy is a fully-functional application, but it is still in early phases with new features and bug fixes on the way.

It works fine. Just reads regular ad revenues however and not the search revenues. So, I uninstalled it. :)
I'll wait until it has a combined revenue summary mode then try again.

I installed AdSense Buddy without problem. The program started, let me log-in, etc. but failed to update stats. Clicking the popup crashed the program. Restarting required logging in again, and again would never update.
So I uninstalled it...
I am looking forward to a version that will work for me, as it looked like a very useful little utility.

Hi Joel,
I'm on Win XP SP2.
Install was fine. Meaning I have not installed anything else such as .Net package which I read somebody else did have to do.
Looks ok to start, but.......
Problem:
Entered login details, and it successfully logs in, and displays the systray popup and looks like it shows the standard stats for Ads, but not Search.
I tick all the boxes for Search and click to Save settings, but it doesn't change them. The popup stays the same. Also if I exit out then come back in (to see if it might re-read the "saved" settings, there's no change, the Search tick boxes have become unticked). So obviously something is not being saved here for some reason.
Just doesn't seem to save the settings.
Next problem: - On the Ad Data screen if I leave everything as default (ie. just todays date range selected), then click Download Data but it gives the message "No data available. Change your filter settings and try another date or channel. Or you aren't loged (typo) into Adsense.....".
This is odd because it does seem to be logged in. Changing options on this screen has no effect, ie give it a proper date range, tick Use filter, etc. Same message. However if I click Get Channel Data this does retrieve my channel names correctly. But still the No data available message.
Note: I'm UK, and dates are shown as I would expect in dd/mm/yyyy format on this screen, which is good for me, but I have seen some other comments about date formats and wondered if this was relevant?
Next problem. If I minimise the program to the systray, when I mouse over the Buddy icon, the pop-up appears. Good. But!
I don't like the way it operates. Being a techy geek I have several icons in the Systray, and if I am trying to click on one of the others but accidentally mouse-over the Buddy icon it covers all the other icons and I have to wait for it to sloooowwwwly rise up, then slooowwwly go back down before I can get back at my icons.
This animation might look pretty but I would much rather that:-
a) you have to deliberately either left-click or right-click the icon in the same way that is STANDARD for most other systray icons, ie. left click for the stats to appear, or right-click to choose options such as for example, Open the main Buddy window, View Stats, Change Settings.
b) Don't do the slow animation, show it instantly, and make it disappear only when clicked on because the length of time it shows for isn't quite long enough to read it.
Next Problem: If I click on the pop-up window when it has risen up, I thought maybe it would open the main Buddy window. Nope! It disappears and I discover that Buddy has completely GONE! No error message, nada!
I don't know whether this is because it has crashed out, or just exited normally, but whatever it has done I have to re-start Buddy again.
Suggestion: When Buddy is started there should be a Setting to allow it to automatically log in, because if you haven't logged in then the popup is just a blank square. It should at least say "Not currently logged in, please login", or someit like that.
Seems to me like you're going on the old "lets not bother to test it properly and see if it works nicely ourselves, we'll get the user to test it" syndrome.
Old cynic me ;) being a programmer myself! Lets have some quality please.
Good luck, it's got the makings of a very nice little app.

works for me, but I would like to see a better UI and some of the options I mentioned in the earlier thread about what we want to see in an app like this.
One thing I do want to mention is that for some reason I had 2 adsense buddy processes running but only one physical app.

It seems to work OK for me, it did crash once when I was first trying it and was looking at the different types of graphs available.
If I had one gripe it is can the little pop up be made to appear by clicking on the tray icon as it is in an awkward place next to something I use a lot and I keep getting to close to it and making it activate when I don't want it too. Also when I do want to see it, it is not there long enough and I reckon I am a super fast reader but even I cannot take it all in.

the program pulls in overall stats fine...however, I cant get it to ever get any data about my channels...it just sits there and locks up when I hit channels button.

I have the same problems as above.
I can bring in the channels, but can't get any data.
Clicking on Download just makes the whole thing disappear. Half the time it tells me I'm not logged in, when the top of the screen clearly says that I am.
Sounded like a great idea. Can't wait 'til it works.

ya, I would like this as well. Make it on right click instead of hover. And when the stats are up, make it so that when you hover over the stats, it won't close, then when mouse is off, close it.

Hi Joel!
I like the program, but like the others, am having a hard time getting the channels to show up.
(i.e. the channels don't show up.)
Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
Thanks!

Lots of great comments!
Truthfully, I didn't encounter these bugs, and it appears that it is working great for some people. But I have asked the programmer to visit this thread and read through the bugs and comments thoroughly. We are on the case!

Sorry Joel but I want to tell to Mac users that they can use a little freeware inside Firefox. It is called an Extension and it gives you permanently your gains in USd, CTR and clicks. It works only with Firefox but Mac and PC.
I use it all time and I don't have to connect the Adsense page to know how much I am winning...
AdSense Notifier Extension For Firefox Released
Tired of logging into Google’s AdSense page every so often to check how many cents you’ve just made? This great Firefox extension automates the process and displays your earning on the status bar and, if you prefer, in a separate tab….

I hope it can help...
