View Full Version : Please take a look
I have been working on a new site, and could use some pointers.
The site is currently filled with adsence while I test my clickthrough rates,
and my monitor is (try not to laugh too hard) 640x480! So let me know how everything shows up with better resolution.

Your help is much appreciated!

i'm getting 404 errors when i click on one of the letters.
as for testing ad types, i would suggest using a different ad for each of your high target pages.
people click on different ads for different reasons. content being the most important.
Oops. uploaded the wrong index page, should be fixed in a moment.
Thanks for the help.

The nav is now busted on all pages EXCEPT the index.
I'd be interested to hear how that ad arrangement works out for you.
-Best luck,
Okay, I fixed my links, and double checked them, all should be in order now.
Please let me know how it looks on a monitor with higher res. Are there any ad overlaps, ect...
Thanks,
Adam

The site looks decent at very hi rez, but I personally suggest:
-Decrease the number of ads in one page
-Provide free useful info on different pages to multiply ads
-Improve style. I'd take a look at attractive blogs and CSS templates.
-Check your competition. They provide interesting descriptions about similar services and you could use some "tips", and I am of course NOT talking about plagiarism.
Thank you all for the help, it's much appreciated.
After a few changes to the layout I should be able to spend some time creating content.

Agree with Varlin too many ads, I'd be tempted to try on a few pages to ditch the sidebars and run another long adsense banner or adsense links across the bottom under the letters.

Google doesn't like people who are desperate for money with too many ads.
just one ad unit and one link unit is best.
I added free graphics from xara.com, an rss feed from a blog I set up for the site, deleted the ads that did not perform well, added tools from iwebtools.com and set up a google sitemap.
Next I still need to add lots of content, tips, reviews, ect... and set up a user friendly sitemap.
Any other suggestions?

Actually Google doesn't care how desperate you are. What an odd thing to say.
You are allowed to run up to three adsense units,(plus adwords) and they don't penalize you for doing so- as long as you understand two things:
1) the ad block whose code is placed closest to the <Body> tag will get all the best-paying ads
2) Having a one or more ad units that never get clicks will negatively skew your stats.
If you can place/format all your units in such a way as that they all get clicks (admittedly not easy with three units), you are golden.
