It's not my site, but i'm curious about the "Sponsored Links" section. If you scroll down to the end of Sept 21 2005, it's at the end of the gray box on the right hand side of the page, it's in a box that says "Sponsored links"? The link location is:

Is this a type of adsense ad? If so, what does it pay? I would imagine the conversion rates are tremendous!

Yes, those are Premium AdSense ads. I am guessing that Gizmodo qualifies for over 20,000,000 page impresssions/month. Not bad.

Maybe I'm blind, but I'm not seeing the "Sponsored By" section. I'm looking at it a day after the post, so maybe it isn't there anymore.

Just out of curiosity Joel. why is there no (ads.by Goooogle.identification.) there I understood that :that annoying little identification was obligatory.

A website that has a large enough number of ad impressions per day gets to agree special conditions with Google, like being able to remove the 'Ads by Google' line or opening the advertiser's website in a new window.

Right - that's AdSense Premium. The section is labeled "Sponsored Links", not "Sponsored By".
