View Full Version : A Crazy Little Site About Hurricanes...

Greetings,

Every now and then I hear a righteous person getting mad at those who "profit" during times of disaster, as if we're all supposed to stop living, stop working, and find all manner of capitalizing during difficult times to have been denounced by God in 11-15 of the Five Lost Commandments.

My philosophy has always been that it takes a strong person to help a weakened person. So in many cases, what I do is to capitalize on people's curiousity and seeking of information via the Search engines. I won't give away my keywords, but when people search for information on how to survive disasters, or to be prepared for them, then I give them what they want. From there, I am at liberty to then donate even more money to places like the Red Cross than I normally could, so call me Robin Hood if you like. All the people who are at home comfortably, leisurely searching the net for hurricane pictures and news, end up at my site, buy smoething or click on something and then, without having to justify amounts to anyone, I am able to give more to the disaster relief.

(That is said to prevent the almost obligatory self-righteous castrations)

I begin with an article, and include all manner of relevant banners. I pull from commission junction, and add in master rights ebooks, and fill in the holes with Google Adsense. Please remember the crux of the site you are about to see is NOT Adsense - it is just a component but I would really appreciate opinions on how to make the best use of it. I've always maintained that if I can make 1 sale of a book every X visitors, that will pay for 340X more visitors, so ideally I'm interested in a bunch of complementary streams of income so that everyone who comes finds something that appeals to his or her desire to continue their investigation.

And now the site:
Handling a Hurricane (http://www.sam-freedom.com/f/hurricane-article-pt1a.htm)

Thank you very much, in advance,
Sam

a) I agree with your methodology not everyone will, but as ever if you weren't building such a site someone else would be. In fact having had a quick scan around on the net there are sites that are directly profiteering / scaremongering far more.
b) Only thing I'd really change is the 'click here' to view the five reasons. I'd be tempted to replace this with 'to view the five mains reasons visit 'here' ('here' being the highlighted link). The words 'click here' can make people do anything but, try it for a day or too & see how you get along.
c) For those in a real life hurricane situation or approaching one the e-books are actually a brilliant idea, guess if a hurricane were approaching me then the ability to instantly download relevant info could well save lives, you can just picture ordering a physical book from amazon...when it arrives 10 days later it kinda might be a little too late to help...If they have anyone left to deliver it too.
d) Gods luck and speed to those in it's path

That is VERY good advice. We know
INSTANT DOWNLOAD is instant gratification,
but I never thought of it in terms of life or death.

Nice call, I should probably remove all the junk
but the article, book and adsense.

You DA man!
