domain pages is also something done by adlogger.

Anyway I have an idea as to why any 3rd party software do report more than adsense:
adsense doesn't count right clicks, 3rd party software with javascript does
adsense doesn't count when someone click on an ad and then move the mouse outside before releasing the mousebutton (as in drag and drop) 3rd party software do count them.

And some other things, like multiple clicks in a short interval which are counted twice by 3rd party sftware and not by adsense, or other things that we don't know because WE CAN'T TRUST THEM whatever they say because they're very secretive about many things regarding adsense, so I don't see why we would trust them, but the fact is what you have written in your adsense account is THE TRUTH as far as your bank account is concerned.

Now that I've had some time to look at this tool and examine the features and start discovering the potenial for increasing site traffic all I can say is wow! This is cool stuff. I don't have much extra cash to be throwing around on the "get rich quick" stuff everyone seems to be promoting and it's refreshing to find another fantastic "free tool".

Thanks for the suggestion of this site and it's exciting to think of all the missed search opportunities that might be collected using the long tail process of finding the right phrases and words to draw in more traffic hence increasing the possibilities of adsense clicks. I would suggest reading the blog too, as it's full of great information as to what long tailing is about and how to use it.

Hittail looks like a fantastic tool.

One question: how do I insert the code into a wordpress blog? The instructions say to place it in between the body tags. I opened the index.php file and didn't know what to do next.

I'm not positive with WordPress because I use blogger but you should be able to put it in your site template just before the /body tag.

For all you FireFox users out there, SEO tools just came out with this really cool plugin to be found here http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.html# . This tool will give you all kinds of info about your competition when you do a google search (works on Yahoo also). All the info is below each of the search returns. Should be useful for SEO on your own site.

The suggestion was made about this free tool a while back and just as a follow up, I wanted to say that this is one really fantastic tool to use. As you build data into it from use, it's amazing what you can pull from it as useful information and also as was pointed out, the suggestion feature can provide you with some great ideas for variants of pages and or sites to create from it. I use this tool everyday now and once you begin to undestand the concept of Hit-Tailing, the sky's the limit. He has also added an excel export feature for all your data now as well so you can take your information off-line if you desire for further analysis. Great tool and thanks James for the original suggestion...

I'm glad you liked it and it proved useful to you, it sures gives me new ideas, even if the keywords they suggest are totally incidental, it's always funny to set yourself to writ eabout that. Here's how I go about it when I see a new interesting suggestion:
Look for the search on google, msn and yahoo
Read a bit about it on sites that come out first
write a few things about the subject, not very much deep since I'm a beginner in the subject, but I make sure I repeat the exact keyphrase several times while talking about it.

I have the keyphrase in the page's title, url, and hopefully in description and keywords meta tags, as well as in the body (several times) that should do it I think :-)

also, i get very different stats from google vs adsense detective and i am convinced that it is because google is combating "click fraud" and randomly killing clicks to ads on my sites. i asked them about it and they said that it is because the 3rd party reporting software must be wrong, but I don't think so.... they said, "trust us, our stats are accurate" I figure my earnings would be 3 or 4 times what they are if I got paid for all the clicks that adsense detective is reporting. oh well... it is better than nothing.
For starters... getting bumped to the next increment is totally unfair unless you are indeed pulling more hits than your statistics show. I am amazed you haven't had a response though... are you sure they had the email? Try sending it again with a read receipt.

As regards your comment regarding differing stats between AD and Google, I can completely understand why this occurs. You are correct in thinking Google is cracking down on click/impressions fraud (as they should be) but the main reason you're getting false information is that the developers haven't got a true understanding on how the adsense system works. Google only tracks statistics when the in-line javascript 'calls home'. Just because the iframe is there, and the source URI is google doesn't mean it's a valid click/impression.

Trust me, the chances of it being Google ripping you off are VERY slim. They are a huge corporation governed by many rules and regulations and are probably audited to ensure there's no foul play of any sort. I haven't purchased AD because having looked at the code, I'm afraid it's obvious the developers haven't researched the way Google sends data to/from the server.

To be fair though... every other application i've seen uses exactly the same functionality to generate a false statistics metric. I have used Adsense Logger (Jon Leger), Adlogger, revenuemonitor & asrep and researched the code in AD and they all use each others code... no matter how many function names are changed!

Although I respect the other work Joel has done over many years, I'm afraid this notion of Joel being the 'go to guy' for adsense deeply angers me. I'm not saying it's a rip off... far from it infact but I'm growing tired of seeing thousands of new adsense users falling in to the same trap as everyone else. This "top secret software" bull is just marketing hype to get you interested.

The truth is this...

If you want to make a fast buck with Adsense, you're wasting your time. It takes time, research and lots of testing to build a stable foundation.
You can't beat the system, period. Google has some of the finest developers working on the adsense core so you really are wasting your time trying to fiddle money out of google and/or publishers.
The only true secrets regarding adsense will remain just that, secrets... until such time where Google wants us to know. Don't be fooled by any site which claims to know everything about Adsense.
You can't get ad text from an IFRAME.
You CAN click your own 'ad link units', but you're not allowed to click the ads which appear afterwards because this would inflate costs and nullify your own statistics.
You CAN alter the adsense color codes after it's been generated by your adsense panel. This has been confirmed in writing by Google.
Google updates the statistics page far quicker than 48hrs!

jjones, I hope you get something sorted but you're quite within your rights to request a refund as the product isn't fit for purpose... and Joel is still advertising several features which simply don't exist in Adsense Detective.

The stats for Adsense detective are being accuratly logged for thousands of
users, including my own. This problem is in all cases submitted to us, solved by placing the java code in the correct place, which is the very last thing in the html template.

If the code is added before any of the adsense blocks it wont track those blocks, can you give me the url of one of your pages please so i can check the placement of the adsense detective code.

Thanks
Robert Puddy
