Cool Is This the Death of AdSense?

There is a brand new report circulating on the web saying that "AdSense is Dead". I recommend that you go download it, but not for the reasons you might suspect.

http://www.thedeathofadsense.com

AdSense IS dead...

... if you focus on building garbage sites
... if you put no effort into creating your own original content
... if you expect to get rich quick

But, the reality of the situation is that AdSense is FAR from dead!

In fact, I had my BEST month EVER in August 2006!

Some people may have made money with AdSense by building garbage sites, but it was never supposed to work that way. AdSense is about building content-rich sites that people actually WANT to visit.

And it isn't going away any time soon...

Nevertheless, you should read the report because it does illustrate why AdSense doesn't work for people who are just trying to "game" the system.

What do you think? Is AdSense dead?

I totally agree.

Those who were making Adsense money with their garbage sites are just about history.

Also, is this a guy with just another agenda to flog another supposed 'money making system' by putting the fear into everyone's head.

He conveniently leaves out the fact that if you have quality content rich sites that Google like, you'll always make money with Adsense.

Maybe that comes in Part 2 of his report

It depends on what the guys at Adwords are willing to spend. As you mentioned, it's about quality sites. The more guys don't care about the rules, the less people are willing to invest in Adwords which will drag Adsense down as well.
For that matter, I've specialized on collecting sites that create illegal impressions on traffic exchange programs (quite popular over here in Germany) and send them regularly, usually once a week, to Google. I'm reporting about 50-60 sites a week and that helps (at least I think it does) to keep the system halfway clean.

I can only encourage other people that see violations to the Terms Of Service to report them. It's doing each and every one of us good by attracting more quality ads and higher CPMs.

To sum it up, we have to report the "baddies" and the system will appreciate it.

Edit: I'm getting the feeling that the guy being responsible for this whole "AdSense is Dead"-thing is just another one of those who overdid it and got his account banned and now tries to ruin the system with this badmouthing.

Will be quite interesting to see how much he has left of his so claimed $50k/month after googles lawyers are done with suing him for abusing their brand name, and potential damage to their business.

And it is even more amazing how many of the socalled "guru's" that are willing to promote this, and risk their reputation, for a meager $0.50 per lead...

*Edit* Ohhh...just noticed.... come on Joel, I thought you where better than that - have you really jumped on the $0.50/lead wagon also ?

Why not put the report up as a download on your site instead ?

Adsense income has dropped about 50% since January this year ... nothing has changed on our end.

It's not mine to distribute. And why wouldn't I take the .50 for referring someone? I'm not sure I understand your placing a value judgment on this. Besides, I do think the report is worth reading else I wouldn't have posted this.

With over 2M pages views, we were doing well with Adsense but since our earnings have dropped by a half, we are looking for alternatives. A test of Yahoo YPN shows that CTRs are low as their ads are not as relevant as AdSense.

I have not read the report yet, but for me AdSense has only started to really live after reading Joel's book.

I have almost tripled my AdSense income since I started applying Joel's ideas.

Thanks Joel.
